    Over 250 Illinois citizens have lost their lives for their country. There are 580 Gold Star family members listed in Illinois. Over 1,400 Illinois citizens have been wounded. Counting their families, there are likely 8,000+ Illinois citizens impacted by their sacrifice. What will happen to their children?

    Only 15% of the families of wounded soldiers qualify for Veterans Education funds. For those service members who make the ultimate sacrifice, the average age of their children is 6-8 years, and the family income is only about $28,000. If our government is not supporting their education, then who will?
