Mark Slaby – Founder & Executive Director
Mark Slaby is a Midwesterner at his core. Past generations of family members were farmers and steelworkers, who planted their roots in the farming community of Nebraska and in the neighborhoods and suburbs of Chicago. Mark spent his childhood and high school years in Naperville, Illinois, before attending and graduating college in Indiana. He returned to Chicago to start his career while fostering his passion for helping others within his own community.
Mark’s career began in the 1990s with a start-up technology company that was later acquired by IBM. Since then, his business interests have diversified into the fields of technology, investing and philanthropy. As an entrepreneur, he continues to finance and operate businesses in technology, aggregate mining, and commercial/industrial real estate markets.
Mark brings a unique perspective and empathy to community challenges along with the leadership skills and relationship development capabilities necessary to deliver results that can make an impact on those most in need. Mark sits on the board of directors and is an advisor to a number of local, state and national business and charitable organizations. Mark received his B.S. in Marketing from Indiana University. Mark is not paid for his efforts relative to Illinois Patriot Education Fund, and considers the time he dedicates to the cause as his service to his country.

Lisa Gunggoll — Director of Operations and Communications
Lisa Gunggoll is a seasoned public relations, events and marketing communications professional with more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. Her background has run the gamut from boutique to global agencies to corporate in-house positions to nonprofit and sports. A former competitive figure skater from Colorado Springs, she serves her clients with the drive and passion of an athlete. Lisa founded LG-PR Public Relations LLC in January 2010 after a decade in Chicago.
LG-PR’s client roster is rapidly growing, with clients ranging from corporate to a venture-funded startup to nonprofits to sports entities and events. To capitalize on Lisa’s passion for sports as well as helping athletes and nonprofits support worthwhile causes, Lisa created Sports for Good to operate in that capacity as an arm of LG-PR. Through Sports for Good, the team provides not only PR and social media services to clients within this niche, but also fund raising and marketing support as well as event management services.
Along those lines, and in addition to her role with Illinois Patriot Education Fund, Lisa currently serves as Media Relations Director for the Chicago United Hoops Classic, a South Side vs. West Side all-star high school basketball game that will benefit the Norm Van Lier Scholarship Fund.
Lisa and her team remain active on all forms of social media and help her clients navigate and leverage this emerging platform. She “tweets” to more than 2,500 followers each day as @LGPR_Chicago and @Chicago_PR_PRO and maintains a presence on Facebook, LinkedIn, Digg, Tumblr and StumbleUpon.
